Some Engineering Recruitment from Richard Bellefontaine

This leaflet dates from 1955, presumably when the young Bellefontaine was trying to get into broadcasting. Also back in the days when, as you can tell from the tone, camera and sound persons (well, men, actually, as women weren't invented yet) were thought of as slightly inferior types who couldn't quite hack it - though they could, if they wanted to, sit the exams in order to graduate to a higher plane of engineering existence.

As usual, click the pic for a readable version....

Zerb

Zerb is the magazine of the Guild of Television Cameramen (www.gtc.org.uk), and has been around for about 30 years. I recently found this one in a cupboard, from Autumn 1978.

Amongst others, there are articles on Richard Dimbleby, the Marconi Mk 9, Goretex, animating with 2" VT (masochists!), and Le Petomaine.

This isn't Le Petomaine, but it accompanies an article by Dave Ross on the brand new Philips LDK 15L camera. I don't know if this is the very youthful Dave.

(I wonder what actually happens to most old cameras? I still fancy an EMI 2001 as a coffee table.)

Here's Richard Dimblebey on what looks like an election in the early '60s.

And this is an ad for Evershed's Scene Sync - "You Can Pan and Tilt on Chroma-key" - Ian Gibbs and Derek Askew

I don't know if anyone at the Guild holds the records, but if they want this copy of Zerb, they just have to ask.
